FLAG ROOKIE RUGBY PROGRAM

Rookie Rugby FAQs

What are the age/grade range requirements for Rookie Rugby? Rookie Rugby is for children in grades K-6. All children must be 3 years old and no older than 12 to participate.

What time of year does the Rookie Rugby program take place? Rookie Rugby takes place in the summer and typically starts the first week of June through the end of July.

Is rugby experience needed? Absolutely not! No experienced is required. We will teach your child everything they need to know!

Are there practices? If so, when? Where? Practices are usually 6pm-7pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Veterans Field in Phoenixville Borough.

How are the teams determined? Teams are determined by grade as follows: players entering Kindergarten/1st grade, entering, 2nd/3rd grade, entering 4th/5th grade, entering 6th grade of above. All teams are coed.

Are there games? Yes of course! Except we have tournaments which usually take place on Sunday mornings. Tournaments are a great time as other local rugby programs like ours come together for some friendly rugby fun. Tournaments last about 3 +/- hours.

What does my child need to participate? Rugby requires minimal equipment. Players need cleats and a water bottle. Some players like to also wear a mouth guard in our flag program but it is not required. Each player will receive a team jersey to wear to games.

What does the program cost? Is there a discount for families with multiple children? The cost is typically $50 per child and we offer a discount to families who have multiple children in the program (fee max is $100 per family).

What is included in the cost? Each child receives a T-Shirt with registration.
